Squirrel Removal Services – Oakland County, MI

Are Squirrels Making A Mess Of Your Attic? We Can Help!

Do you hear fast scurrying in your attic or walls? When you go up to the attic to check it out, do you find acorns and insulation damage? You may have a squirrel problem!

Squirrels can make their way onto your roof using nearby tree branches and can get into your attic and really make a mess. These little critters like to burrow in insulation and leave acorn shells everywhere, and their scurrying and scratching can really be distracting and disturbing.

Whether you’re 100% sure the culprit of your distress is a squirrel or it could be another Michigan critter, call on Bat Removal & Prevention. We’re a fully licensed Michigan Wildlife Control company and we offer humane squirrel removal services to our neighbors throughout the greater Oakland County area.

How Is The Squirrel Removed & How Long Will The Squirrel Removal Process Take?

When you call on Bat Removal & Prevention, our technicians will begin by setting up live traps which are not dangerous or harmful to the squirrel. These traps are humane and spring-loaded, so if the squirrel is only partly in the trap when the trap engages, it can wiggle its way out. Should this happen, we’ll simply come back out and re-engage the trap.

Our squirrel traps are designed to engage once the squirrel enters. As soon as you see the little critter in the trap, just give us a call and within 24 hours, we’ll come to pick up the squirrel and release it at one of our designated release sites.

All in all, the removal process itself can take anywhere from one day to one week, depending on the number of squirrels you have and what their behaviors are, but we guarantee relief! And you never have to worry about us using any poisons or other dangerous materials which could harm the squirrel or someone living or working on the premises.

Note: We know that when kids see a squirrel in a trap leaving their house, they can get a little upset or concerned for the squirrel’s well-being. We get it, which is why, upon request, we’ll gladly provide a video of the release. Just ask!

What Can I Do To Keep The Squirrels Out Of My Home Or Business?

Obviously, no one wants squirrels running rampant through parts of their home or business, but what can be done to avoid such a situation? Here are a few tips:

  • Trim the trees around your home or office. Squirrels typically gain access to the roof of a home or business using tree branches, which is why trimming your trees back can significantly reduce your risk of a squirrel invasion. Look for any branches that hang just above your roofline or close to your roofline and trim them back to a safe distance.
  • Keep your lawn well-maintained. Squirrels can’t get enough acorns and other goodies that can oftentimes be found on the ground. But when you keep your lawn well-maintained, squirrels won’t find as many of these tasty treats on the ground near your home, so they’ll be less likely to want to move into your space. Instead, they’ll stay in the trees where food is still plentiful.
  • Keep bird feeders at a safe distance from your home or office. There’s a reason “squirrel-proof” bird feeders are all over the market. Squirrels LOVE bird feeders; they’re like never-ending buffets! But when you hang bird feeders close to your home, you’re inviting squirrels closer to your home, which increases your chances of getting a new furry roommate. Keep bird feeders at a reasonable distance from your home and foundation to decrease your chances.
  • Get social. Wait, what? Squirrels are deterred by noise and activity, so adopt a couple of dogs, offer to babysit your brother’s kids, and ask that holiday meals be had at your place. If it all gets to be too much, just remember, in the few moments of silence you will inevitably have, you won’t hear any scratching or scurrying.

Of course, any time you have a squirrel problem, we recommend an inspection. Inspections allow us to evaluate the entire home or business and pinpoint just where and how the squirrels are getting in. Once we’ve identified these areas, we’ll seal them off to prevent problems in the future.

We also offer a Preventive Maintenance Program, which provides you with two guaranteed inspections a year, one in spring and one in fall. If, during an inspection, we locate any areas in need of re-sealing, the extra work is on the house, so to speak.
